X Factor judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue - from dumpy teens to sex sirens, their secrets revealed
By Tanith Carey 14/11/2008
Stunning Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue may be oh-so-perfect now, but once they were as unpolished as the raw talent they judge on The X Factor. We spoke to the people behind their transformations into the queens of primetime TV.
Cheryl Cole Age: 26 Height: 5ft 3in
Old Look: Girlband-meets-Footballer’s Wife in hot pants, cropped tops and Juicy Couture tracksuits.
New Look: With the help of stylist Victoria Adcock – who also styles Posh and Christina Aguilera – Cheryl has toned down her initial look with shift dresses, high-waisted trousers and classic blouses. “She does the ladylike look really well,” says Victoria. “But then she can switch to urban jeans, heels and a leather jacket.”
Diet: Cheryl used to live on egg, beans, chips and takeaways. Now she eats mostly vegetarian and loves shrimp and cod, as well as Oriental specialities like miso soup and edamame beans.
Exercise: She started out a stone heavier at 9st – until she hired a trainer and started intensive gym workouts. The Mirror can also reveal her secret weapon – a Hypoxi-therapy bike. As she pedals, Cheryl wears a high-waisted rubber skirt which, it’s claimed, boosts circulation and helps banish cellulite.
Worst Fashion Moment: It may have cost £110,000 and been designed by Roberto Cavalli but Cheryl’s diamante-encrusted wedding dress was one of the most unflattering examples of WAG bling. Style guru Gok Wan branded it “the worst of all-time”.
Fashion Turning Point: As Cheryl sashayed down the catwalk at Naomi Campbell’s charity show last month in a red Jean Paul Gaultier gown, she graduated to the position of fashion icon. Stylist Mark Heyes, who worked with her at the event, said: “It was the breakthrough moment, when the fashion crowd started taking her seriously."
Favourite Labels: Cheryl’s wardrobe is stuffed with A-list design pieces from Herve Leger, Roland Mouret and Matthew Williamson. Celebrity stylist Nick Ede, who is a friend of Girls Aloud, says: “Unlike Posh and Coleen, it looks effortless. Cheryl wears the clothes – not the other way around.” Now confident in her own style, Cheryl has been choosing most of her outfits for the live X Factor shows.
Shoes: Once seen only in clumpy trainers and Timberlands, Cheryl now boosts her height with killer stilettos by Christian Louboutin and boots from Dolce and Gabbana.
Hair: At first, Cheryl did her own hair – and it showed. DIY highlights only made her unflattering bob look worse. Now, with the help of stylist Lisa Laudat, she uses high-quality extensions and back-combing to re-create the 60s starlet look. Apparently, she has more extensions than any other celeb to create her style.
Teeth: At the start of her career, Cheryl’s smile was ruined by very uneven teeth. Since then, she has worn an invisible brace for two years and added porcelain veneers to even them up.
Make-up: Cheryl has dumped the harsh lipsticks for subtler pink shades. She gets a healthy glow using Mac Face and Body Foundation, while her lashes are coated with her favourite brand, L’Oreal Volume Shocking mascara.
Skincare: Her perfect skin was the first thing that judge Pete Waterman noticed at her Popstars: The Rivals audition – and Cheryl has used the same L’Oreal face wash for five years. She says: “Otherwise, I just make sure my face is clean and moisturised before I go to bed.”
Botox: The singer declares she doesn’t need it yet – and has no plans to use it in the future. “It hasn’t been around long enough for people to know what’s going to happen to their face in 20 years’ time.”
Plastic surgery: Cheryl says her body is still changing. Add to that the fact that she hates needles and operations, and it seems she won’t be altering anything for the foreseeable future.
The Harley Street Smile Clinic has transformed her look in recent years - especially since gettng her veneers. It was said in the press that she had only had braces to improve her smile, but it's quite clear that the lateral incisors are a lot bigger in size than they used to be. her veneers are quite nice although a little on the bulbous side when seen close up.

Teeth Whitening - A part of self grooming

Teeth Whitening - A Part of Self-Grooming These Days Posted by embrad 8:30 AM 0 comments »
First of all let's understand the concept of 'veneer' in the whole procedure of whitening of the teeth. Whitening of teeth is considered a very vital part of your personality and vigor these days, since it's considered a very much part of your beauty, hygiene etc.
So 'veneers' play an important role in the teeth whitening procedure, which has helped many patients to attain whiter teeth, since these days in the corporate world especially in professions related to glamour, flight attendants etc. require all this to be done as a must and can't compromise on such things.
So what's a veneer basically? In dentistry a veneer is described as a restorative material placed over a tooth surface either to protect a damaged tooth surface or to cover the flaws in the tooth. Two types of materials can be used in veneers, it maybe porcelain, the other material is composite and of course the price may vary as per the material used. A composite veneer is one, which is directly placed into the mouth of a person or fabricated in the dental laboratory by a professional dentist and later bonded to the teeth of the patient, using resin cement known as panavia, while on the contrary a porcelain veneer can only be indirectly fabricated.
'Veneers' were discovered in the 1930s by an American dentist by the name of Charles Pincus. The veneers produced initially by this American dentist were weak and fell off unless and until denture adhesives were used. Inspite of this drawback, this procedure was helpful to improve the appearance of the teeth of movie stars.
In those days only movie-stars were particular about whitening of teeth, since they belonged to the glamour world, but nowadays everyone of them is interested in anything which aids in enhancing the beauty of a person even by one percent. The major components of veneers are hydrofluoric acid and porcelain. The invention of veneers have proved to be a major boon to people working in the glamour industry like films, serials and also to some in the hospitality industries like airlines, hotels. where looks matter the most.
There are many home teeth whitening methods, but 'home teeth whitening method' implies you should be very careful in this sphere, since here you are the boss and you are not an expert, so you need to be doubly careful, but this article is not something to discourage you from using home whitening procedures, but to only remind you to be careful at whatever you do, it shouldn't happen that you use some chemical to whiten your teeth and don't get the desired results.
A few tips on how to whiten your teeth at home:
A puree of strawberry and baking soda is very helpful in whitening of teeth before brushing with your regular tooth paste.
Brushing your teeth with hydrogen peroxide before brushing with your regular tooth-paste is also very helpful in the whitening of your teeth at home.
Common salt used along with your toothpaste is also very useful for home teeth whitening purpose.
Hence it proves that there are many procedures available in the market to whiten your teeth, but which one is most suitable for you is a personal choice and should be left to the individuals themselves.

My brother had some dental work done a few months ago. I don’t know the details of the procedures, but he got porcelain veneers and his bottom jaw straightened out a little. His mouth was a little out of whack before, and now it certainly looks sharp. He said he got very comfortable dental care. I guess they sedated him and the whole process was relatively smooth and painless. The surprising thing is that he’s done quite a bit better at his job since then. He’s a real estate agent. I’m not sure exactly why that is.
We all judge people on first impressions, even though we’d like to not be influenced by superficial things like appearance. Maybe people have a harder time trusting someone with a crooked smile. It may also simply be that his smile makeover gave him the confidence he needed to realize his potential. I definitely noticed that he carried himself a little straighter and prouder afterwards. I also noticed that he smiled a lot more after the operation. I never thought about it before, but I guess he was always a little ashamed to show his smile back when his teeth weren’t so good.

Dr Maurice Johannes of The Harley Street Smile Clinic agrees, and it's a well known fact according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry that an attractive smile is an important social asset.

cosmetic dentistry, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening
Porcelain veneers are extremely thin casings of ceramic that are bonded to the front of the patients tooth to create a new smile. Porcelain veneers are placed over the front of teeth that appear too small or large, slightly discolored, or simply are not cosmetically pleasing to the patient. For many patients, teeth may have chipped, become discolored, or are slightly crooked. For the majority of these patients, porcelain veneers can prove to be the perfect solution.
When placing porcelain veneers, we pay close attention to the patients surrounding teeth and design each veneer to complement the overall smile. The result is a beautiful, attractive new smile.
If cared for properly, your veneers will last you a long time. We ensure that your new veneers are constructed of the most durable porcelain materials available.
ProcedureThe procedure begins with the preparation of the tooth. This entails removing the discolored or unsightly portion of the tooth and meticulously shaping the tooth in preparation for the new veneer. Once we have shaped the tooth, we will take an impression. This impression will be sent to our lab where your new restoration will be crafted. While the new veneers are created, we will provide you with a temporary restoration. Our temporary restorations will resemble your natural teeth so that you can continue with your daily life without worrying about a missing or incompatible tooth.
During your second visit to the office, we will proceed with the placement of your final restoration. The veneers will be fitted comfortably into the mouth. We will make every effort to ensure that the new tooth feels exactly like one of your natural teeth. The final step in the process will be to bond the new veneers into your mouth, leaving you with a beautifully restored smile.
Over time our teeth tend to become discolored or stained. Whether this is from smoking, coffee, or any other foods, a beautiful smile could be closer than you think. We offer a safe, inexpensive solution to an unsightly smile. Whitening your teeth is a very simple procedure that can be completed in relatively short period of time.
ProcedureThe first step in the whitening process is impressions. We will take full impressions of your upper and lower teeth. These impressions will be made into custom bleaching trays. The trays will fit onto your teeth perfectly so there is a small possibility of gum damage from the bleaching solution.
The second step is to place the bleaching solution in the trays and wear them for a few hours a day. Within 7-10 days, you will see a significant improvement in the color of your teeth. Your smile will look brighter and younger. We will take before and after photos so that you will be able to compare the amazing transformation.
Bleaching only works on natural teeth and may not be effective in all cases. We will inform you as to the potential whitening for your specific situation.

The Zoom! ProcedureThe procedure for Zoom! whitening is quick and painless. The first step is to isolate the teeth and protect the gums and lips. When this has been accomplished, the whitening gel is placed on the teeth. The gel is activated by a specially designed light that is directed at the teeth. The entire procedure takes just over an hour. The results are usually between 6 and 10 shades whiter.

Cosmetic Dentistry
The goal of cosmetic dentistry, which is voluntary dental work is to improve the appearance of your teeth and improve your smile, that increases your self-confidence. Porcelain Veneers. Most patients were not born with a perfect set of teeth. Porcelain veneers can be applied to correct flaws that make you embarrassed to show off your smile. Many people would love to have straight teeth, but do not want to wear painful metal braces that mar your appearance for months or even years.
An excellent alternative to crowns, porcelain veneers can perfect your smile by masking stains, hiding chips, and correcting misalignment. Porcelain veneers are made of thin, customized material designed to look incredibly natural, are long lasting and are relatively easy to apply. Porcelain veneers are bonded to the front of teeth, giving them a straighter, more uniform appearance.
